Camping Recipe: Grilled Sweet Potato Fries

Whether you’re hosting a cookout at the campground or looking for the perfect side dish for your favorite summer dinner, this camping recipe is just what you need. You’ll love how delicious and easy grilled sweet potato fries are and want to make them for every meal!

Ingredients

  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 tbsp of Olive Oil
  • 1 Clove of Garlic, Chopped
  • 1 tsp of Chili Powder
  • 1 Packet of Ranch Dry Mix

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry your sweet potatoes and garlic.
  2. Cut the sweet potatoes lengthwise into ⅓ in. strips. Try to keep them uniform and around the same size on all sides to help them cook evenly. 
  3. Add the fries to a water bath for 30 minutes and then drain, and then spread them on a paper towel to dry for 1 hour. This process is optional, but it makes the fries much more crispy.
  4. In a large bowl, add the fries, oil, chopped garlic, chili powder, and dry ranch mix.
  5. Stir until the fries are completely coated. 
  6. Cover a sheet pan in tin foil and layer the fries onto the pan, then set the sheet pan on the grill grate to cook over medium-high to high heat. 
  7. Allow them to crisp up for up to ten minutes, flip the fries, and cook for another ten minutes until they’re crispy and ready to serve with ketchup or the sauce of your choosing.
